Susannah was raised in the Chicago Suburbs and attended Furman University. She studied abroad in Madrid, honing her Spanish skills and distinguishing herself as one of two inaugural Furman Fellows for Hispanic Alliance in 2017. After her fellowship and graduation, she served 2 years with Hispanic Alliance as an AmeriCorps VISTA, increasing efficiency and capacity across all Hispanic Alliance programs and working closely with fund development. She also collaborated with Dr. Ben Roth of the University of South Carolina to standardize the curriculum and outcomes for Hispanic Alliance’s award-winning leadership accelerator, the Student DREAMers Alliance (SDA).
As our Leadership Programs & Sustainability Manager, she applies this body of work to running the program at optimal efficiency and to allow SDA to expand across the state. Her goals also include establishing a robust alumni network for students who have graduated the program that will include mentoring, volunteer opportunities, and in-depth college and career planning.
Susannah not only keeps our leadership programs sustainable, but our entire organization as well. She has been working consistently in our Development Department to streamline giving procedures and constituent data management, as well as building a comprehensive understanding of our grant process while expanding our grant opportunities.
Susannah’s overarching vision is to transform systems of power into successful and ethical institutions that drive innovative change. She is particularly committed to advancing equitable access to higher education and women's empowerment. She has traveled to Washington, D.C. to engage with Weave the People, an initiative of the Aspen Institute, creating community through intimate stories and conversation. In 2019, she completed Furman’s Business and Entrepreneur Bootcamp, an intensive class covering the fundamentals of accounting, finance, marketing, business analytics, and entrepreneurship. Her confidence, decisiveness, and flexibility within systems has and will continue to push Hispanic Alliance to excellence.
