Position Summary (Primary Function)
The Commercial Fueling Lead is responsible for coordination of all administrative and operational aspects of commercial airline refueling by the Commercial Aviation Services Division. The Position also performs other duties as assigned by the Commercial Fueling Supervisor.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Coordinates and allocates resources and personnel to safely and efficiently provide commercial fueling services during his/her shift. .
Carries out assignments related to fuel farm operations
Conducts daily safety briefings with fueling agents.
Provides customer service to flight crew, and interacts with Division team members and other operational contacts in a courteous, professional manner.
Performs equipment checks and notifies supervisor of discrepancies and schedules any necessary maintenance.
Complies with company fuel manual, airline specific fueling manuals and all other applicable fueling regulations.
Use only company authorized fuel vehicles and equipment to fuel aircraft.
Is responsible for accurate record keeping of each fueling transaction.
Perform basic math calculations and conversions pertaining to fuel loads.
Is responsible for the correct loading and balancing of fuel and when necessary, de-fuel aircraft as directed.
Performs job duties at a predetermined level of participation and timeliness.
Perform de-icing functions as required.
Performs ground handling activities for cargo and passenger operations as assigned from time to time.
Responsible for any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by a Commercial Services Fuel Supervisor.
Education Requirements (Evaluation Factors: Skills, Education, Ability)
High School Diploma,GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must exhibit the desire to continue training and increase knowledge needed to stay abreast of changing industry regulations, standards and procedures.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in airline fueling.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in safely operating powered industrial equipment.
Proficiency in the use of a personal computer with skills in Microsoft Windows, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
This position requires skills in prioritization, organization, verbal communications and interpersonal relations, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Supervisory Responsibility
Indirect supervision of commercial fueling personnel and fuel farm quality control.
Licenses Required
Valid Driver’s License
Must be able to secure and maintain GSP airfield driver privileges.
Certifications Required (Must have or be willing and able to secure and maintain)
NATA Professional Line Service Training certification
Fuel Quality Control Training from a nationally recognized fuel provider
All other applicable fueling certifications
Latitude/Independent Judgment/Accuracy
Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information.
Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage.
Responsible for own work, but must coordinate work with others.
Working Conditions
Physical Demand - Use of personal protective equipment is required. Exposed to heat, cold, rain, and snow in a noisy environment. Must possess the ability to perform strenuous physical activities such as walk, kneel, crouch, stoop. The employee must have full use of and range of motion with arms, hands, fingers, legs, and be able to regularly lift and or move up to 70 pounds above head. The employee will have to stand on a platform several feet above ground with neck and back arched. The employee must engage in sustained physical exertion and perform arduous work under adverse conditions and maintain physical fitness pertinent to the work.
Mental and/or Visual Demand - Mental and visual demands are high and vary with function performed. Consistent mental attention needed to respond safely and efficiently.
Attentiveness to work procedure will reduce potential risk of injury in work areas.
The Employee may be exposed to vibrations, fumes, toxic or dangerous liquids and chemical and airborne particles.
Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employee is required to have the visual acuity to analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal.
Exposed to normal aviation environment.
This position requires uncommon tours of duty to include but not limited to weekends and holidays, rotating shift assignments and overtime duty.
Will be subject to recall after normal duty hours.
Other Requirements
Must be able to complete and pass a background investigation and drug screen as required by the Federal Government and aviation-related authorities.
