Position Summary (Primary Function)
The Line Service Lead is responsible for the safe and professional operation of a designated shift to include but not limited to supervision and direction of Line Service Technicians and all Line Service functions ensuring prompt, safe, courteous service to the District FBO Customers. This position also performs other duties as assigned from time to time by the Line Service Supervisor.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
• Ensures adequate staffing on the assigned shift to deliver the products and services requested by customers and in
a timely manner.
• Ensures that all equipment has been inspected at the beginning of the shift and is in proper working order.
• Ensures that Line personnel of the assigned shift employ standardized practices and procedures to service and tow
(reposition) aircraft in a safe and efficient manner.
• Addresses customer complaints, problems, or comments in a professional manner.
• Instructs and trains Line Service Technicians in the safe and efficient performance of Line Service operations.
• Relays any pertinent information relating to the performance of the operation or Line Service personnel to their
immediate Supervisor in a timely manner.
• Performs, without additional instruction, various aircraft service duties including but not limited to: marshalling,
towing, fueling, servicing lavatory fluids as well as replenishing ice, water, and paper products.
• Ensures safety of Line operations, which includes protections of customer assets (aircraft). Non-adherence to any of
the rules, regulations, guidelines, or procedures by the Line Service Lead or one of the employees on the shift is
deemed unacceptable and will result in disciplinary action which may include termination.
Education Requirements (Evaluation Factors: Skills, Education, Experience, Ability)
• High School Diploma, GED or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge,
skills, and abilities.
• Must exhibit the desire to continue training and increase knowledge needed to stay abreast of changing industry
regulations, standards, and procedures.
Experience Requirements
• Minimum of three years of experience in the FBO industry; or any equivalent combination of experience and training
which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficiency in safely operating powered industrial equipment.
• This position requires skills in prioritization, organization, verbal communications and interpersonal relations, and the
ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• The ability to use a personal computer, with skills in Microsoft Windows, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Demonstrated leadership and training abilities.
Supervisory Responsibility
• Indirect supervision of Line Service Technicians
Licenses Required
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be able to secure and maintain GSP airfield driver privileges.
Certifications Required (Must have or be willing and able to secure and maintain)
• NATA Professional Line Service Training certification
• Fuel Quality Control Training from a nationally recognized fuel provider
• Additional certifications and training may be required as needed
Latitude/Independent Judgment/Accuracy
• Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information.
• Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage.
• Responsible for own work but must coordinate work with others.
Working Conditions
• Physical Demand - Use of personal protective equipment is required. May be exposed to heat, cold, rain and snow in
a noisy environment. Must possess the ability to perform strenuous physical activities such as lift passenger bags
weighing 50 pounds or more, engage in sustained physical exertion and perform arduous work under adverse
conditions and maintain physical fitness pertinent to the work.
• Mental and/or Visual Demand - Mental and visual demands are high and vary with function performed. Consistent
mental attention needed to respond safely and efficiently.
• Attentiveness to work procedure will reduce potential risk of injury in work areas.
Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employee is
required to have the visual acuity to analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal.
Exposed to normal aviation environment.
This position requires uncommon tours of duty to include but not limited to weekends and holidays, rotating shift
assignments and overtime duty.
• Will be subject to recall after normal duty hours.
Other Requirements
• Must be able to complete and pass a background investigation and drug screen as required by the Federal
Government and aviation-related authorities.
